If your wick is perfectly sized for your container and the wax, you should experience a melt pool that extends to the edge of the container and is approximately 1/2-Inch Deep. The flame will burn consistently without flicker and there will be no carbon build up
If your wick is too small (under wicked) for your container, the wax will melt unevenly, not extending to the edge of the container. It will “tunnel” and eventually extinguish itself before all the wax has burned.
If your wick is too large (over wicked), the flame will be too tall and will flicker. There will be carbon build up producing what is called mushrooming. There will be puffs of smoke. Soot can buildup inside the candle and the container may get extremely hot and could possibly break.
The melting point of the pre-waxed wicks for candles has a higher melting point than the candle wax. The candle maker is safe to between 190° and 200°f.
You can easily cut the wick to better suit your needs. Just make sure to use sharp scissors.
The wicks are packaged in a corrugated box to ensure they will arrive in top-top shape!
