INFLATION UPDATE – April 14, 2022
The Business Environment Has Changed Dramatically
Firefly Fuels is experiencing price increases beyond anything we’ve ever seen.
The latest is from Amazon. April 28, 2022 all sellers will be charged an additional 5% for a fuel surcharge.
Cardboard up 35%, bottles up 22%, Caps up 14%, base material up 14%, shipping costs up 300%, gasoline is up over 48%, and we’re experiencing increases on a weekly basis. Our most recent container shipment that has always cost $5,500 to $6,500 was $18,800. That was a real shocker!
Firefly Fuel has held the line on pricing but has been forced to continually review costs and make price adjustments where necessary.
Additionally, we have found it very difficult to hire capable staff. Supply of materials has slowed significantly due to staffing issues and raw material shortages.
These are some of the challenges, many if not all, small-business owners face in today’s world. These increases have nothing to do with the Ukraine issue.
